Ocean City's Rob Kelly grabs second in Oakley Pro Junior

SEA ISLE CITY - The Heritage Oakley Pro Junior wrapped up Saturday in a tight final. Of the nearly 100 surfers who began the event, it was down to four, and for the second year in a row, Cory Arrambide, of Ventura, Calif., took the title and $2,500.

But the biggest surprise of the weekend was Ocean City's Rob Kelly, who took second place.

When he aced his semifinal, Kelly, who graduated from Ocean City High School in June, became the first New Jersey surfer to ever go to the final of an Association of Surfing Professional Junior event.

In its fifth year, the Heritage Pro Junior has become a favorite stop for many on the domestic circuit, which offers money and experience to young surfers trying to make a career of surfing. More

Curran Continues to Lead North Americans on ASP WQS

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California (Sunday, August 24, 2008) – Nathaniel Curran (Oxnard, CA), 24, continued to shine over some of the world’s finest surfers once again this week at the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Qualifying Series (WQS) 6-Star Prime event, the Rip Curl Pro Presented by Sprite, held in Hossegor, France and continues to improve upon his ratings lead over the field. Meanwhile, Tanner Gudauskas (San Clemente, CA), 20, earned the second-best finish amongst North American surfers with a 9th place finish overall.

Unique surfing competition to take place tonight in Atlantic City

Atlantic City has been known as a place where the action heats up when the sun goes down. That will certainly play out tonight at 7 p.m., as the Red Bull Night Riders take to the waters just north of The Pier at Caesars, where teams will compete in a nighttime "tow at" surfing competition.
