Martin Truex Jr. and Dale Earnhardt, Inc.'s appeals of points penalties stemming from a violation found at the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway were denied Monday by the National Stock Car Racing Commission.

The violation - the car's roof was lower than the NASCAR standards -means that Truex will lose 150 points in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings, and crew chief Kevin Manion will be suspended for six races and fined $100,000. Crew member Gary Putnam was also suspended for six races.

DEI was appealing the severity of the penalties. More
