Ian Keyser wins second straight Pageant Ocean Swim
By GUY GARGAN For The Press, 609-272-7210
Published: Aug 31, 2008

ATLANTIC CITY - Ian Keyser of the Avalon Beach Patrol got up out of the ocean at Missouri Avenue beach on Saturday morning and ran to the finish line to win the 79th annual Atlantic City Pageant Ocean Swim. He also became part of the ancient swim's well-documented history.

Keyser, 17, of the Petersburg section of Upper Township, became the 11th swimmer to win the overall title at the Pageant Swim two years in a row.

The St. Augustine Prep senior turned in a time of 23 minutes, 54 seconds in the 1-mile ocean race. Atlantic City lifeguard Jeff Terrell was second in 24:04 and Andrew Gemmell of Wilmington, Del., placed third in 24:20.

"It feels great to win it two years in a row," Keyser said. "There's a great class of guys who've won this race, like Christian Sprang and John Kenny." More
