Coastal evacuation addressed in 10 new bills

TRENTON - Local legislators will announce bills today designed to speed people away from the shore in case of an emergency.

The 10 bills follow many of the 14 findings established in May by the Assembly Coastal New Jersey Evacuation Task Force.

The bills address the small and large concerns that surround evacuating residents and visitors and housing them in the time immediately afterwards.

The General Assembly created the task force following the debacle evacuating New Orleans residents in advance of August 2005's disastrous Hurricane Katrina. More
