Bacteria closes Lake Absegami
Published: Jul 24, 2008

From Press staff reports

Lake Absegami in Bass River State Forest was closed Wednesday due to poor water quality, which left John Nappi, 15, of Little Egg Harbor Township and his friend Christian Miller, 15, of Tuckerton looking for another place to swim.

The lake was closed because of a high bacteria count, according to a spokeswoman for the Department of Environmental Protection. The lake will reopen as soon as tests show the water is safe, she said.

Nappi and Miller headed off to find another beach, and chose Graveling Point at the end of Radio Road in Little Egg Harbor. More
